Jennifer Hudson Says American Idol “Abused” and “Brainwashed” Her

From all the mean-spirited comments they’ve been making about Taylor Hicks during the audition rounds this season, it seems pretty clear that they hate having someone with music integrity win American Idol, and Taylor doesn’t seem a likely choice to be showing up to sing to pad out a show somewhere down the line.

And, from these quotes from new movie star and former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson, it sounds like she won’t be back either:

“On ‘American Idol,’ you go through this mental thing; you’ve got to get yourself back together,” she says in the March issue of Essence magazine, according to an excerpt published by People.

“You’ve been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think.”

Hudson, 25, also tells Essence that “Idol” unfairly branded her.

“You become a character — I became the girl in the turkey wrapping,” she says, alluding to an unflattering outfit she wore on an “Idol” episode.

“I just knew I had to sing my way out of it,” she says.

I don’t remember her being Turkey Girl, so I have a feeling that was more in her head than in any of the heads of people watching the show. Not that I’m putting past American Idol to be brainwashing anyone, don’t get me wrong.
