LaKisha Voted Off

So, no big surprises tonight. Well, that Pink performance was a little weird. It was so obviously taped earlier and half-heartedly edited together to give the impression that she was really performing live, as long as you weren’t really paying attention to what was going on. And with some really weird and kind of sleazy editing to make it look like Ryan and Pink were actually acknowledging each other at the end? Weird! Just say “hey, this was taped earlier” and stop trying to pull stuff like that over on us.

Barry Gibb’s performance was a little weird also. Probably one of the worst star/mentor performances that we’ve seen on the show. Sure, he blew away Michael Buble, but that’s not saying much. A cat on stage that meows twice and then walks off to eat some tuna would blow away Michael Buble’s “performance” on American Idol.

And then LaKisha Jones voted off. DialIdol predicted it, most of America predicted it, it even sounded like Ryan Seacrest predicted it when he was doing his on-the-street interviews. No big shock. Interesting that they tried to make it look like Blake was in the bottom two by pairing him up with LaKisha, when according to DialIdol it was almost certainly Melinda Doolittle in the bottom 2. If I was more into conspiracy theories I would use that to assume that the AI producers would rather have Blake in the top 2 than Melinda, since seeing him in that pseudo bottom 2 tonight would only re-energize his fans and make them think that they absolutely have to do their best to support him.

And at the same time, Melinda’s fans can get complacent because I don’t think she’s ever been in danger, despite what the DialIdol results have been predicting.

We’ll see what happens, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Melinda gets voted off next week, leaving a Blake/Jordin finale. And I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s the final two that the producers would most like to see.
