So Long, Alaina and Alexandrea
Well, as we worried might happen, part of America screwed up American Idol for the rest of America. This doesn’t bode well for this year’s presidential election…
Sure, America got it right with Jason Yeager and Robbie Carrico (even though I was always hoping to see more of Robbie so we could see his wig accidentally fly off his head during a live performance.)
But voting off Alaina Whitaker and Alexandrea Lushington? Come on. It wasn’t a huge surprise, since I had peeked at the DialIdol results, but it was still disappointing. You’re keeping around Amanda (who had one of the worst performances in AI history), KKKristy, and Kady — and I think I’m probably forgetting a few others who deserve to be sent packing — and instead voting off Alaina and Alexandrea, two of the better contestants of the season?
I guess that when the American Idol editors don’t show a whole lot of you before the voting rounds begin, you’re going to be in trouble if you’re just an above average singer. You need to blow people away to stick around, while the faces that we’ve seen far too much of get to slide by on some subpar singing.
